A survey of Nordic folk art issued as a special number of The Studio in 1910, edited by Charles Holme with text by Sten Granlund and Anna Michaelson, aimed at British and American designers and collectors of vernacular craft. Halftone photographs and colour plates record carved wooden chests and boxes, pierced metal brooches and clasps, painted furniture, textiles and dress, with dense interlaced foliage, scrollwork and runic lettering that can be traced as border patterns, monogram frames and repeating ornament.
