The peerage of Ireland : or, A genealogical history of the present nobility of that kingdom
A seven-volume genealogical history of the Irish nobility compiled by John Lodge and revised by Mervyn Archdall, printed in Dublin by J. Moore in 1789 for peers, antiquaries and genealogists. The plates are line-engraved achievements of arms: a shield with quartered charges under a coronet and crest, flanked by supporters such as winged horses, stags, griffins, lions and draped angels, above a ribbon motto scroll, all usable as heraldic stock, banner shapes and animal silhouettes.
