The Pentateuch of printing, with a chapter on Judges
A posthumous history of early printing by the London typographer William Blades, issued with a memoir by Talbot Baines Reed in 1891 by A. C. McClurg of Chicago for printers, collectors and students of the book trade. The plates reproduce fifteenth-century block-book woodcuts, specimen pages of gothic type and manuscript-style initials, engraved portraits of printers in oval frames, and carved scenes of men at the hand press — usable as period type samples, framed heads and workshop vignettes.
