Period decoration
A survey of historical ornament styles compiled by Chandler Robbins Clifford and issued in New York in 1901 by Clifford & Lawton, made as a working reference for interior decorators, furniture makers and designers. The plates are line engravings and pen redrawings of period motifs: acanthus scrolls, scallop shells, grotesque panels with sphinxes and putti, ram's-head cartouches, carved capitals and pilaster strips, all in clean black on cream, easy to isolate as vector spot ornaments, borders and frame corners.
