Personal : being a brief treatise on what to wear, what not to wear

Rogers, Peet & co., New York. [from old catalog] · 1898 · New York, Rogers, Peet & co. · 12 pictures

A men's and boys' clothing guide issued in 1898 by the New York retailer Rogers, Peet & Co., advising customers on correct dress for city streets, sport, and country. Pen-and-ink street scenes show figures in overcoats, knickerbockers, sailor suits and top hats against hatched pavement and hard cast shadows, with carriages and horses behind — useful for period costume reference, crisp line-and-shadow figure groups, and turn-of-century urban backdrops.
