Petit inventaire illustré de la Chalcographie du Musée national du Louvre
An illustrated sales inventory of the Louvre Chalcographie's engraved copperplates, compiled by Henry de Chennevières and issued in Paris by A. Joanin et Cie in 1900 for print collectors and buyers ordering impressions. The 44 plates are small halftone reductions of reproductive engravings after paintings: rustic figure groups, mother-and-children interiors, and wooded landscapes with cattle, all built from dense crosshatched tone that dissolves into smoky grey, useful as ready-made vignettes and textured backgrounds.
