Petri Costalii Pegma : cum narrationibus philosophicis
Pierre Coustau's Pegma, a Latin emblem book of verses with philosophical commentaries, printed at Lyon by Matthias Bonhomme in 1555 for humanist and legal readers. Alongside the emblem cuts run woodcut strips and frames of grotesques: crouching satyrs and apes, bearded masks, strapwork cartouches, hung drapery and foliate sprays, usable as rules, headpieces and small repeating ornament.
