Petri Costalij Pegma, : cum narrationibus philosophicis
Pierre Coustau's Pegma is a Latin emblem book printed at Lyon by Mathias Bonhomme in 1555, its woodcuts cut by Pierre Eskrich for humanist readers who paired each picture with a moral and philosophical commentary. The plates run to emblem scenes in ruled frames plus horizontal ornament bands of scrolled strapwork, blank cartouches and reclining nude figures, useful as running headpieces, rules and small pictorial devices at text size.
