Petri Peregrini Maricurtensis De magnete, seu, Rota perpetui motus, libellus ...
A Latin treatise on the lodestone written as a letter by Pierre de Maricourt in 1269 and first printed at Augsburg in 1558 by Philipp Ulhart, edited by the physician Achilles Pirmin Gasser for natural philosophers and instrument makers. The woodcuts are compass and instrument diagrams: circles ruled into degree scales and lettered segments, crossed axes labelled Oriens, Occidens, Meridies and Septentrio, pivoting needles, toothed iron rims and almond-shaped lodestones, useful as circular dial frameworks, engraved-looking scale bands and early diagram lettering.
