The philosophical epitaph of W.C. Esquire, for a memento mori on his tomb-stone ... Also, A brief of the golden calf (the worlds idol) ...
A 1675 London collection of alchemical tracts, compiled and sold by the bookseller William Cooper with English versions of Helvetius and Glauber, printed by T.R. and N.T. for readers of chemical philosophy. The pictures are letterpress ornament and diagram: black-ground woodcut headpieces with masks and grotesque beasts, foliate initial letters on hatched grounds, and simple concentric-circle symbols for substances set into the text, useful as period initials, rules and alchemical signs.
