A Latin handbook of distillation and alchemical pharmacy by Philippus Ulstadius, printed at Lyon by Guillaume Rouillé in 1553 for physicians and apothecaries. Small framed woodcuts show gourd-shaped glass vessels, retorts with looping handles, alembics and furnaces, modelled in dense parallel hatching against blank grounds — clean silhouettes for logos, labels and diagrammatic vessel motifs.
