Philosophy reformed & improved in four profound tractates : the I. discovering the great and deep mysteries of nature
An English translation by Henry Pinnell of alchemical and Paracelsian treatises by Oswald Croll, printed in London in 1657 for readers of spagiric medicine and natural philosophy. The surviving image is a small woodcut initial letter in which two hooded figures read from a book, drawn in coarse outline with dense diagonal hatching for shadow — usable as a historiated drop cap or a compact vignette of scholarly reading.
