Philothei Symbola christiana : quibus idea hominis christiani exprimitur
A Latin emblem book of Christian symbols attributed to Karl Ludwig, Elector Palatine, printed at Leiden in 1682 by the widow of Johannes à Gelder for devout and learned readers. Each of the 104 copperplate emblems is a small roundel with a Latin motto lettered around the rim, enclosing a landscape of trees, tombs, ruins, rayed suns and distant hills in fine cross-hatching — usable as circular badges, mottoed seals, or stock scenery vignettes.
