Photographs of architecture and scenery in Gujarat and Rajputana
An album of albumen photographs of temples, stepwells, palaces and town sites in Gujarat and Rajputana, taken by Colin Murray with notes by the archaeologist James Burgess and issued by Bourne & Shepherd in Calcutta in 1874 for colonial administrators, antiquarians and subscribers. The plates are wide architectural views in warm sepia, with carved stone screens, colonnades and stepped tanks framed by heavy trees; useful for masonry texture, deep shadow shapes and period photographic tone.
