The Pictures of 1909. Pall Mall Magazine extra, May 1909
An annual exhibition supplement issued by the Pall Mall Magazine in London in May 1909, reproducing paintings shown in that year's Royal Academy and other British exhibitions for magazine readers following the art season. The 255 halftones are soft grey photographic plates of oil paintings: seated portraits of men in dark suits and women in pale gowns, children in white, and figures crossing bare moorland, useful as muted tonal backgrounds, period costume reference, and vignetted figure studies.
