...Picturesque Greece architecture, landscape, life of the people
A 1922 New York edition of a German photographic survey of Greece, with plates by Munich photographer Hanns Holdt and text by art historian Richard Hamann, aimed at architects and travellers. The 175 sepia gravures show ruined temples and walls, terraced hill villages, monastery courtyards and rural workers, useful for weathered masonry texture, stepped stone silhouettes and warm monochrome tonal range.
