Pise et Lucques
A volume on Pisa and Lucca by Jean de Foville, published in Paris by H. Laurens in 1914 as part of the Villes d'art célèbres series of illustrated city art guides for travellers and students of Italian art. The 127 halftone plates reproduce Romanesque church facades with tiers of blind and open arcading, nave interiors with columns and pulpits, and long frescoes of processions and architectural backdrops, offering arcade patterns, column capitals, and crowded figure groups in grainy grey tone.
