Pitture delle chiese di Rimino

Marcheselli, Carlo Francesco, 1671-1735 · 1754 · In Rimino : Nella stamperia Albertiniana · 6 pictures

A survey of the paintings in the churches of Rimini, compiled by the local antiquarian Carlo Francesco Marcheselli and printed at the Albertiniana press in Rimini in 1754 for clergy, collectors and visitors making the rounds of the town's altarpieces. The plates here are the book's typographic furniture: coarse woodcut initials set in flowers and laurel, and headpieces and tailpieces built from acanthus scrolls, blossoms and grimacing masks, useful as drop caps, dividers and small spot ornaments.
