The planetarium, and astronomical calculator ..
Tobias Ostrander's astronomy manual and calculating guide, published in New York by M'Elrath, Bangs & Herbert in 1833 for American students and amateur observers working out planetary positions and eclipses. Wood-engraved plates show a star-strewn zodiac disc with radiating rays, concentric orbit charts labelled from Mercury to Uranus, and crowded sheets of eclipse geometry with shaded shadow cones, lettered arcs and small sun and moon roundels usable as diagram stock and zodiac symbols.
