A manual of playground games and athletic events compiled by O. S. Rice for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and printed in Madison in 1911 for teachers and school officers. Halftone photographs show crowds at field days, boys climbing wooden gymnastic frames, a horizontal bar in Vilas Park, and starters crouched for a footrace — useful for period crowd silhouettes and simple timber apparatus.
