Point and pillow lace; a short account of various kinds, ancient and modern, and how to recognise them

Sharp, Mary · 1905 · London, J. Murray · 66 pictures

Mary Sharp's 1905 handbook from John Murray in London, a collector's guide to identifying point and pillow lace by period and place, written for amateurs, students and needleworkers. Plates are photographs of lace strips against black, showing scrolling foliage, flower sprays and figures rendered as white line on mesh grounds, usable as high-contrast borders, repeating panels and stencil-like silhouettes.
