Point and pillow lace; a short account of various kinds, ancient and modern, and how to recognise them
A collector's handbook of 1905 by Mary Sharp, published in London by John Murray, written to help buyers and needleworkers tell one lace type from another. The 57 plates are halftone photographs of lace laid on black grounds, showing Venetian point, Valenciennes, Chantilly and Buckinghamshire patterns as white scrollwork, flowers and mesh fillings against solid black, usable as reversible ornament, borders and repeating net textures.
