Point and pillow lace; a short account of various kinds ancient and modern, and how to recognize them
A 1905 collector's handbook by Mary Sharp, issued in New York by E.P. Dutton and in London by John Murray, explaining how to tell needlepoint and bobbin laces apart for amateurs and buyers. The plates are close photographs of lace fragments shot flat against black, showing scrolling foliage, roses, scalloped edges and open mesh grounds as high-contrast white line on dark, usable as border strips, repeating patterns, textures and screen-ready silhouettes.
