Point and pillow lace : a short account of various kinds ancient and modern, and how to recognize them
A collector's handbook by Mary Sharp, published in London by John Murray in 1899, describing needlepoint and bobbin laces and setting out how to tell the various types apart for buyers, students and needleworkers. The plates are photographs of lace specimens printed white on black, showing borders, edgings and flounces with scrolling foliage, flowers and open mesh grounds; useful as high-contrast silhouette patterns, repeating border strips and textured net fills.
