The political Struwwelpeter
A political parody of Heinrich Hoffmann's Struwwelpeter, written by Harold Begbie and drawn by cartoonist F. Carruthers Gould, published in London in 1899 for adult readers who followed Westminster politics. The plates are hand-coloured line drawings in flat red, green and yellow, with oversized caricature heads on small doll-like bodies, verse blocks set inside the picture area, and large areas of bare page usable as cut-out figures or borders.
