Polygraphice, or, The arts of drawing, engraving, etching, limning, painting, vernishing, japaning, gilding, &c. : in two volumes ...
An English how-to manual on drawing, engraving, painting, varnishing, gilding and related crafts by William Salmon, issued in two volumes by London booksellers in 1701 for artisans and amateur practitioners. The numbered engraved plates are drawing-school exercises: heads in profile and three-quarter view built over guide circles and dotted axes, curling hair studied as loops, and separated arms, legs, hands and feet rendered in fine contour with light hatching against blank paper.
