Engraved portraits of European celebrities. Decorative engravings. Etchings and engravings by old & modern masters. Art reference books
A 1922 sale catalogue from the London print dealers Maggs Bros., listing engraved portraits, decorative prints and etchings by old and modern masters for collectors and the book trade. The halftone plates reproduce English sporting and genre engravings after painters such as Gilpin and Webb: mounted huntsmen with packs of hounds, rustic figure groups outside cottages, and grey horses in wooded landscapes, useful as period equestrian silhouettes and costumed crowd figures.
