Portraits in fine art
A 1901 New York catalogue issued by publisher Charles Barmore, reproducing American etchings and mezzotints of statesmen, judges and generals for print collectors and dealers. The plates are halftone copies of bust-length portraits, heads emerging from dark grounds with high-contrast faces, stiff collars, cravats and star-studded uniform collars—useful for engraved-portrait textures, vignette framing and period male dress.
