The American practical navigator : being an epitome of navigation and nautical astronomy
A U.S. Navy navigation manual, Bowditch's epitome of navigation and nautical astronomy, revised under Philip H. Cooper and printed by the Government Printing Office in Washington in 1888 for naval officers and merchant mariners. The figures are line diagrams: compass roses with lettered bearings, circles crossed by radii and arrows, celestial triangles and sight reductions, usable as spare geometric marks and directional motifs.
