Pre-Raphaelitism and the pre-Raphaelite brotherhood
William Holman Hunt's two-volume memoir and history of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, published by Macmillan in New York and London in 1905 for artists, critics and collectors of Victorian painting. The 92 plates reproduce pen-and-ink studies, etchings and photogravures of paintings by Hunt, Millais and Rossetti, including crowded interior compositions, hatched figure groups and pastoral scenes such as The Hireling Shepherd, offering dense linework, drapery studies and period costume.
