The principles of beauty as manifested in nature, art, and human character : with a classification of deformities. An essay on the temperaments with illustrations. And Thoughts on Grecian and Gothic architecture.
A Victorian essay on aesthetics, physiognomy and the temperaments by Mary Anne Schimmelpenninck, published posthumously in London in 1859 under Christiana Hankin's editorship for educated general readers. The plates are tinted lithograph heads seen in profile, drawn in chalky sepia, ochre and grey washes on cream grounds, useful for soft-edged face studies, hair and drapery line, and limited warm-neutral palettes.
