Printers and printing in Providence, 1762-1907
A local trade history issued in 1907 by Providence Typographical Union No. 33 to record the city's printers, newspapers, and shops from 1762 onward, aimed at union members and local readers. The plates are halftone portraits of printers and publishers—head-and-shoulders men in dark suits, some in oval vignettes—useful for period faces, collar and moustache detail, and vignette framing.
