Printing and the renaissance: a paper read before the Fortnightly club of Rochester, New York, by John Rothwell Slater
A lecture by John Rothwell Slater on early printing, read to the Fortnightly Club of Rochester and issued in 1921 by William Edwin Rudge in New York with typography by Bruce Rogers, for club members and book collectors. The plates reproduce fifteenth- and sixteenth-century printers' marks and ornament: Froben's caduceus with twined serpents and dove, thistle and vine borders, and blackletter monograms in flowered frames.
