The printing trades
A 1916 vocational education survey of Cleveland's printing industry, written by Frank L. Shaw for the Cleveland Foundation's Survey Committee to guide schools training apprentice printers. Halftone photographs show composing rooms, cylinder and platen presses, linotype keyboards, bindery tables and stacked signatures, with workers in aprons at their machines: useful for industrial machinery silhouettes and early twentieth-century workshop interiors.
