Printing and writing materials : their evolution
A history of writing and printing materials compiled by Adele Millicent Smith and published at her own imprint in Philadelphia in 1904, aimed at students, collectors and members of the book trades. Halftone plates reproduce tooled leather bindings, block-book pages with banderole captions and Adam-and-Eve scenes, papermaking premises and a dense daisy-and-vine binding stamped IN MEMORIAM, useful for panel borders, repeating floral fields and early woodcut layouts.
