The problem of the unemployed
An economic tract on unemployment, land nationalization and workplace machinery written by Henry Franklin Ring and issued by his own Houston publishing company in 1915 for American reform-minded readers. The plates are halftone studio portraits of middle-aged men in suits, stiff collars and bow or four-in-hand ties, lit from one side against dark vignetted backgrounds, useful as period business-class headshots, mustache and collar reference, or coarse-screen halftone texture.
