A German Lutheran polemic of 1621, printed at Rostock by Jochim Fuss, in which Georg Rost disputes Rosicrucian reckonings and Paul Nagel's astrological-cabalistic prophecy that Christ would return in 1623, written for theologians and learned readers of the Reformation controversy. The illustrations are typographic ornament rather than scenes: woodcut initials filled with looping interlaced scrollwork and a triangular tailpiece of symmetrical foliate curls, useful as drop caps, section breaks and page-end devices with visible ink spread and toned paper.
