Progress in art and architecture : with precedents for ornament
A treatise on ornament and Gothic architecture by the English architect John Pollard Seddon, published by David Bogue in London in 1852 for architects, carvers and design students. The plates are tonal lithographs of carved capitals, corbels and bosses drawn from medieval buildings, showing stiff-leaf and acanthus foliage in heavy shadow against blank grounds, useful as isolated ornament motifs.
