A 1791 Paris guidebook by J. Mérigot walking visitors through the gardens of Chantilly, issued with a plan and twenty engraved views for tourists and garden amateurs. The plates are wide horizontal landscape engravings with pale skies, heavy massed foliage, water, the château and orangery, and tiny strolling figures, boats and carriages, useful for tonal tree silhouettes, staffage figures and captioned scenic framing.
