Protection of shade trees in cities and towns
A Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station bulletin of about 1900 on the care of street and park trees, written for town officials, tree wardens and property owners in New England. The plates are coarse-screen halftones of trunks: scarred and cankered bark, split crotches, fungal growths ringing a branch, and trees crowded against clapboard houses, useful as gritty grayscale textures, silhouette bark studies and period documentary photography.
