Proudhoniana
A set of political caricatures by Cham (Amédée de Noé) issued in Paris in 1848 by the office of Le Charivari, mocking Pierre-Joseph Proudhon and his property doctrines for the paper's republican-era readership. The wood-engraved vignettes are small square scenes of gesticulating figures in top hats, checked trousers, smocks and aprons, drawn in loose hatched line against sketchy walls, trees and doorways, useful for cut-out character silhouettes, period costume detail and expressive hand-and-arm poses.
