Quarterly journal of microscopical science
A British scientific periodical begun in 1853 for the Royal Microscopical Society and printed at the Clarendon Press in Oxford, carrying research papers and engraved plates for microscopists and naturalists. The plate shown sets rows of snow crystals in white line on a solid black ground, a ready source of radiating six-point forms, dendritic branching and specimen-grid layouts.
