An eight-volume anthology of letters by Renaissance and Baroque painters, sculptors and architects, collected by Giovanni Gaetano Bottari and printed in Rome by Niccolò and Marco Pagliarini in 1757 for antiquarians and artists. The plates are letterpress ornament: woodcut headbands of swans, masks and acanthus scrolls, plus initial capitals built from foliage, griffins and an elephant.
