Rational recreations, in which the principles of numbers and natural philosophy are clearly and copiously elucidated, by a series of easy, entertaining, interesting experiments. Among which are all those commonly performed with the cards
A four-volume collection of parlour science and card tricks by William Hooper, printed in London in 1794 for amateurs experimenting at home. The plates are hand-coloured engraved diagrams: ray paths through lenses and mirrors, blue and orange perspective boxes, coloured grids, keys and optical apparatus, with lettered points and figure captions set among fine ruled lines.
