A German documentary study by Karl Eggers, published in Berlin by F. Fontane in 1889, printing the correspondence between sculptor Christian Daniel Rauch and Goethe for art historians and Goethe scholars. Plates reproduce Rauch's portrait busts, seated and standing statue models, commemorative medals of Goethe, Karl August and Humboldt, and a carved pedestal with masks and acanthus, supplying engraved profile heads, sculpture silhouettes and circular medal designs.
