A Russian archaeological study of the amulets called zmeeviki, published in 1894 by E. Lisser's press for antiquarians and students of medieval Christian iconography and Apocrypha. Line engravings show obverse and reverse of cast medallions in circular format: haloed riders spearing figures, an archangel with staff, a reclining lion, Gorgon-like heads ringed by knotted serpents, all framed by continuous Greek and Cyrillic inscription bands.
