A real history of Newark and notable Newarkers
A 1916 collection of caricatures of Newark, New Jersey officials and businessmen, drawn and published by newspaper cartoonist Thomas Fleming through his own Newark syndicate for local readers who would recognize the sitters. Each plate pairs a big-headed full-length figure in lithographic crayon with a hand-lettered scroll, banner or motto naming the man and his office, giving designers ready-made portrait-and-caption layouts, ribbon cartouches, and a large stock of period suits, uniforms, hats and props.
