Recherches sur les superstitions en Chine
A French Jesuit ethnographic survey of Chinese popular religion compiled by Henri Doré and printed by the Catholic mission press in Shanghai in 1911, documenting charms, deities and folk practice for missionary and scholarly readers. The plates reproduce Taoist paper talismans in red or black brushwork—elongated glyph columns, looped and zigzag strokes, and stacked seal-like characters set against yellow paper with French captions—usable as high-contrast calligraphic marks, ornament borders and occult symbol sets.
