Recherches sur les superstitions en Chine
Henri Doré's multi-volume survey of Chinese popular religion and magic, issued in French by the Catholic Mission press in Shanghai in 1911 for missionaries and European scholars. Numbered plates combine line drawings of rituals and processions with flat-colour figures of deities and domestic scenes, each captioned in French and labelled with Chinese characters — usable as figure groups, deity portraits and vernacular object studies.
