Recherches sur les superstitions en Chine
A French Jesuit missionary's survey of Chinese popular religion, compiled by Henri Doré and published in Shanghai by the Catholic Mission in 1911 for European readers and fellow missionaries. Hand-colored line plates show numbered figures of monks, lohans and deities in flat blue, yellow and grey robes against blank grounds, each captioned in French and English with a Chinese name panel; useful for isolated figure cutouts, robe drapery patterns, and caption-and-cartouche layouts.
